The ubiquitous leather, leopard and mini everything of the past few years have seen vamp become a trend in itself; you can now step out in a leather mini, fur coat and red lipstick and be lauded by the fashion gods rather than mistaken for a hooker. I'm not opposed to this at all, but I'm drawn to the subdued version much more so, because I'm a sucker for comfort and have a penchant for layering. Alexa Chung embodies this "understated sexniness" as she labels it, so perfectly - maintaining that allure without just emanating pure sex. Those little divergences - flats and low heels instead of sky-high Loubs, kitsch-y pieces instead of diamonds and thick knits thrown over everything - coupled with the constant of high hemlines are so perfect. I feel such a cliche writing a style post about Alexa, but there is just no one who does it quite like her.

couldn't agree more! Though thank you fashion Gods for making the thigh high leather platforms be fashionable so that people (at least those who matter) do not think I have a penchant for whips and latex. I remember the days when I used to make fun of hookers for those, oh how the mighty have fallen.
