oscars after party dresses

So I'm pretty sure that everyone has seen the gowns from the Oscars red carpet. The fabulous after-party dresses didn't get enough attention though, and as they kicked ass I thought I should give them the attention they deserve

Holy shit I love Angie Harmon's dress. I would also like to be Hilary Swank.

“When adults say, “Teenagers think they are invincible” with that sly, stupid smile on their faces, they don’t know how right they are. We need never be hopeless, because we can never be irreparably broken. We think that we are invincible because we are. We cannot be born, and we cannot die. Like all energy, we can only change shapes and sizes and manifestations. They forget that when they get old. They get scared of losing and failing. But that part of us greater than the sum of our parts cannot begin and cannot end, and so it cannot fail"

Why is being different so unappreciated by society? Why do people concentrate on the price of being different, rather than the wonderful perks of being individual? Why must we all now conform to the mainstream view of what is beautiful and what defines sucssess? Difference is what makes the world an interesting place, so why don't you leap outside your sphere of unfufilling normalcy, and experience the invigorating taste of individuality.

"Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary" Cecil Beaton

“I think we spend too much time wondering why we’re not good enough. We spend too much time over-analyzing, over-thinking, and overreacting. We waste too much time putting ourselves down, so much that we don’t ever stop to see that well, we are good enough. You are good enough. We spend too much time with our heads down and hearts closed; and never get a chance to look up from the ground and see that the sun is shining and tomorrow is another day.”

the demand for blood transfusions is growing faster than donations

I think it's fascinating to think about how someone you have no connection with is alive becasue they have your blood running through their veins.

 - Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood
 - One donation can help save the lives of up to 3 people
 - If you began donating blood at age 17 and donated every 56 days until you reached 76, you would have donated 48 gallons of blood, potentially helping save over 1,000 lives
 - Only 5 percent of eligible donors across the nation donate blood, but the number of transfusions nationwide increases by 9 percent every year
